Meet the people behind our ministry

Pastor Kevin Redig

Pastor Kevin does not have the typical pastor’s resume. He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and retired to Tucson after a career as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. In Tucson, he spent 16 years as a full-time faculty member at Pima Community College, the last six years of which were bi-vocational as he was also the Associate Pastor at Vistoso Community Church.

Despite this unusual background, God has had his hand on Kevin’s development and was preparing him for his current role as VCC’s pastor. There were many years of academic study eventually leading to an advanced seminary degree. More importantly, there were the years of daily study under a variety of godly pastors, who, recognizing the potential for ministry, mentored him and provided opportunities to teach and preach.

As Scripture says: “For everything there is a season ….” Making the transition to full-time ministry, now more than ten years ago, began a season of feeding and caring for the sheep at VCC, and Kevin would tell you that is right where the Lord wants him to be!

Pastor Michael Haltom

Pastor Michael earned a Bachelor's of Science from Moody Bible Institute in 2018 after many years of study and degree program changes due to life circumstances. During this time and prior to entering ministry full time, he served as the President of Frontline Street Intervention, a ministry focusing on at-risk youth and young adults, was an Elder at his Church, and currently serves on the board for Haiti Pastor Training Mission.

In addition to his ministry background, Michael came to VCC with experience as a team lead and project management professional which highlights the administrative and shepherding gifts God is developing. Pastor Michael is a veteran of the USMC where he was recognized for leadership and diligence. Michael and Kathy have been married since 2010 and have two grown daughters in the Midwest.

Anyone who is around Pastor Michael for a short time will hear him say, "We walk by faith, not by sight" (II Corinthians 5:7) and "to whom much is given, much is required" (Luke 12:48b and II Corinthians 4:1). These key verses highlight God's calling on him to walk in God's leading with the gifts that God provides.
